Experience
Gerardo is a partner in the Corporate Law Department (Corporate Law and M&A practice areas) of Garrigues’ Mexico City office.
Over the period 1997 – 1998, he worked at the New York office of O’Melveny & Myers. He has been a member of the Bar Association of the State of New York since 1998. He is a member of the Mexican Institute of Mediation and is authorized by this body to practice as a mediator. His specialist areas include mergers and acquisitions, international financing transactions, and real estate law. He also has experience in economic competition matters. He has published several articles on the provision of guarantees in Mexico.
Gerardo has been involved in a number of financing transactions and debt restructuring processes, representing creditors (including commercial Banks) and debtors, including equipment finance operations. In recent years he has also been involved in engagements related to the financing, marketing and operation of telecommunications towers in Mexico. Similarly, he has experience in the construction and financing of infrastructures projects in certain states. Prior to joining Garrigues, Gerardo was a partner at Kuri Breña, Sánchez Ugarte y Aznar, S.C.
Academic background
He qualified as a lawyer at Universidad Iberoamericana and has over 24 years’ experience. He has a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Virginia.
