Marek is the head of the Tax Law Department of Garrigues in Warsaw. He has extensive experience in advising on a range of tax matters, particularly including income tax, transfer pricing and tax proceedings in various sectors, such as construction, commercial real estate, media, sports, new technologies, energy, pharmaceuticals, food, furniture and retail.
Over his professional career, he has participated in numerous M&A transactions, including the largest deals on the Polish market. He routinely advises clients on tax matters and on proceedings before the courts and tax authorities.
Experience
Marek has practiced tax law since 2006. He began his professional career at Big Four firms, where he advised companies in the pharmaceuticals sector on tax and regulatory matters and in relation to income tax. Between 2008 and 2015 he focused on advising on capital transactions (M&A), designing investment structures based on their tax effect, assisting high net worth clients, and performing complex, cross-cutting projects covering different areas of the tax system.
He joined Garrigues in 2016 as head of the Tax Department, where he is in charge of managing key accounts and organizing the team’s work. At Garrigues, Marek has expanded his professional experience by participating in tax procedures and proceedings in the fields of tax and criminal law (Criminal Tax Code). Over his professional career, he has successfully led numerous proceedings for the refund of incorrectly paid tax and other tax disputes (secondary liability of the managing body, nullity of criminal law consequences, etc.).

- Marek is a graduate of the Institute of International Relations at Uniwersytet Warszawski and of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
- Postgraduate degree in business valuation methods, SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
- International Certified Transfer Pricing Expert® certificate, Institute of Tax, Accounting and Finance, Edinburgh (Scotland).

Lecturer at SWPS Uniwersytet Humanistycznospołeczny (Warsaw).

Publications
Author of articles on tax issues in the press and specialist publications. He routinely publishes articles on the Garrigues website and blog. He teaches courses on tax matters, including at the Polish Association of Construction Industry Employers.
