COVID-19: New deadline extension and exceptional measures affecting portuguese companies

In the context of the measures that have been adopted by the Portuguese Government to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the Decree-Law no. 22-A/2021 was published on 17 March 2021.
Amongst the measures provided, which come into force on 18 March 2021, we highlight with special relevance for Portuguese companies:

the extension until 31 December 2021 of the expiry date of several documents, including certificates issued by registry offices, licenses and authorizations, whenever such expiry date falls after 18 March 2021 or in the immediately preceding 15 days;

the waiver of the obligation to annually confirm the information contained in the Central Register of Beneficial Owners (CRBO), regardless of the date of the initial declaration, provided that there has been no change in the information contained in the CRBO; and
-
the extension until 30 June 2021 of the deadline for holding General Meetings of commercial companies which must be held by legal or statutory requirement, without prejudice to the possibility of holding General Meetings through telematic means, as legally permitted.
