Garrigues brings in attorney Diego Perales to strengthen the Energy practice in Chile
Diego Perales, with over 20 years’ experience in the public and private energy sector, has joined the Administrative Law team as Of counsel
Garrigues has hired the attorney Diego Perales as Of counsel with the Administrative Law Department’s Energy practice at the Santiago de Chile office. Diego Perales brings more than 20 years’ experience as an advisor to energy sector companies. He is an expert in legislation and regulations governing the electricity market and in corporate law.
Before joining Garrigues, Diego Perales was head of the legal department at the National Energy Commission (CNE) and worked in energy sector companies including Enel Generación, Endesa and Chilectra.
According to Luis Felipe Merino, partner in charge of the Santiago office: “Diego is an excellent lawyer, with extensive experience in the electricity industry, in both the private and public arenas, and has solid knowledge of the industry’s three main businesses: electricity generation, transmission and distribution. At Garrigues, he will help strengthen our advisory services for clients that render services in the energy sector, in particular renewable generation and transmission, which are continually expanding in Chile”.
Javier Ybáñez, partner in charge of Garrigues’ Latin America practice, cited the importance this hire has for the firm: “Bringing in Diego will strengthen our Administrative Law practice, particularly in energy, which is a priority area both in Chile and Latin America as a whole due to the ongoing development of projects in the sector.”
In addition to Diego Perales, the Administrative Law Department in Chile comprises Claudio Moraga (Of counsel) and Sebastián Hassi (principal associate), along with a team of associates with extensive knowledge of the sector.
