Garrigues’ Equal Opportunity Employer certification extended a second time by the Ministry of Equality
Recognizing the firm's commitment to equal treatment and opportunities between men and women
The Ministry of Equality has for a second time extended Garrigues’ certification as an Equal Opportunity Employer, recognizing the firm's commitment to equal treatment and opportunities between men and women. This certification “is a mark of excellence granted by the Ministry of Equality to companies and other entities noted for their equality policies between men and women at the workplace, created through the implementation of equality plans and measures”.
Garrigues has held this certification since 2017. It obtained the first extension in 2021, for a three-year term, and has now obtained the second in 2024, for five years.
For this second extension, the ministry particularly commended the measures the firm offers to all its employees concerning equality, work life balance, diversity and harassment prevention, the training provided on these subjects and awareness-raising initiatives around specific dates such as International Women’s Day, Work Life Day and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
It moreover highlighted Garrigues’ measures to support a work life balance for employees, such as flexible working hours, the Home Office Plan giving employees the option of combining working from the office and remotely, use of new technologies and the Garrigues Optimal Plan, allowing new parents to reduce their working hours after the end of their parental leave, for a two-year period, with no impact on their career progression and no reduction in pay.
Also recognized was the increase in the number and percentage of women in positions of responsibility, and we were commended for continuity of the Garrigues Female Mentoring Program targeted at women at the firm in the associate and senior associate professional categories with the aim of providing them with tools and methods for advancing their careers. Another appraised factor was the broad range of training initiatives that the firm makes available to all its employees.
