Garrigues wins the IFLR award for ‘Law firm of the Year’
This is the seventh time the firm has been singled out for this award
Garrigues scooped up the award for “Law Firm of the Year: Spain” handed out every year by the Euromoney journal, the International Financial Law Review (IFLR). This is the seventh time the firm has received this European award in recognition of its work.
Garrigues also received a prize for its participation in the high yield transaction of the year, the issue of senior bonds secured by Kantar under the framework of its acquisition by Bain Capital. The firm was also a finalist in the category of venture capital for the Parques Reunidos takeover bid and the securitization of the NPLs of Prosi Acquisition.
The panel looked at all the work performed by Garrigues professionals last year. Following a careful analysis of the Spanish market which, according to IFLR, is characterized by being “competitive, with innovative work across the spectrum”, the IFLR team chose Garrigues because of the innovation it displayed in some extremely important transactions covering several jurisdictions.
IFLR highlighted several of the firm’s transactions throughout the year, but singled out one consumer loan securitization in which Garrigues advised Banco Sabadell, the originator and the securitization fund. The transaction is “a highlight in the securitization market. The transaction marked the first SRT and STS securitization of consumer loans in Europe in which all the tranches of the securitization were sold publicly. The transaction resolved a vast number of complex legal issues.”
"This is an extremely important award for the firm in view of its prestige and because it is the result of the opinion of businesses. Offering added value to clients is our main objective as a law firm", explained the executive chairman of Garrigues, Fernando Vives.
