Karen Werner joins Garrigues as partner to head the Dispute Resolution practice in Chile
She has extensive expertise in advising Chilean and international companies across a wide range of sectors
Garrigues brings Karen Werner on board in Santiago de Chile as partner in charge of the Dispute Resolution: Litigation and Arbitration practice. Her appointment is pending ratification by the next Garrigues Partners’ Meeting.
Werner has 16 years’ experience in advising companies and institutions in local and international lawsuits and arbitration proceedings in sectors such as energy, mining, infrastructure, construction, financial services or real estate, among others.
She holds a degree in Law (magna cum laude) from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master of Laws from Columbia Law School. She is an arbitrator of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago de Chile Chamber of Commerce and has worked at several Chilean law firms prior to joining Garrigues. Werner also features in the main international legal directories.
With regard to teaching activities, she has worked with several institutions, such as Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, as assistant professor of the Chair in Constitutional Law, or Universidad de Los Andes, as assistant professor of the Chair in Procedural Law. Werner is also a member of the Women Lawyers’ Committee of the Chilean Bar Association.
This appointment further consolidates Garrigues’ presence in Latin America, through its offices in Bogotá, Lima and Mexico, in addition to Santiago de Chile.
