
Juan Carlos has over 9 years’ experience in designing customs operation strategies, development programs, the application of commercial agreements signed by Mexico tariff classification and assistance during the start-up of operations in Mexico, among other matters. He works with manufacturing companies in various industries such as automobiles and aerospace, and also with services companies such as customs agencies, software providers and logistics operators.

Juan Carlos Jiménez Labora is a principal associate in the Tax practice.
He has advised companies in several industries on IMMEX programs, ensuring legal compliance and optimizing operational aspects. He has also provided support in the interpretation of rules of origin and customs procedures in accordance with various free trade agreements signed by Mexico.
Juan Carlos has experience in obtaining registration on the NEEC (New Certified Companies Scheme)/as an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), in VAT and excise (IEPS) certification and in obtaining registration on the Importers of Specific Sectors Registry.
He has worked on the analysis and planning of foreign trade structures in Mexico for companies in several sectors. He has also coordinated and participated in preventive foreign trade audits, verifying compliance with customs matters and analyzing possible contingencies as part of sale and purchase processes or the evaluation of subsidiaries in Mexico.
His experience includes providing advice in determining the tariff classification of consumables and finished products, as well as in assessing non-tariff regulations and restrictions applicable to their import and export. He has also supported companies in the preparation and negotiation of services contracts with customs agents.
In the pharmaceutical industry he has provided advice on regulatory compliance matters resulting from merger processes and in the automobile industry, to a leather manufacturing company on a tariff classification to access a preferential tariff charge.
He has participated in tax defense strategies for several companies, as well as in the analysis of operational viability under specific regimes, such as the case of a company in the automotive industry.
He is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
