Alfonso Vallaure Fernández is a counsel in the Tax and Accounting Law practice. Since 1998 he has developed his work in different sectors of activity: among others, retail, real estate, financial institutions, family businesses or tourism and hotels. He has led numerous corporate operations and business restructurings and directed a multitude of tax procedures, both in the administrative and contentious-administrative phases with magnificent results.
After having been included for many years as a professional of merit in the list of the best tax professionals in Spain prepared by the firm Best Lawyer, in 2022, he was awarded "Lawyer of the year" in matters of tax law in Asturias.
He has participated in countless talks in Spain and Latin America and has taught, among other courses, as a professor in several editions of the "Course on Economic and Accounting Fundamentals for Latin American Judges", distinguished by the Financial Times in its awards for legal innovation.
He has participated in a large number of publications and is co-author of the book "Acquisition of Spanish.
Experience
He has carried out his entire professional career in the same Firm since its entry in 1998. In 2014 he was appointed principal associate.
He has extensive experience in tax advice for a multitude of activity sectors such as retail, real estate, finance or tourism, assisting prestigious entities both in specific and recurring matters. He is a great connoisseur of the problems of family businesses, both from a purely business perspective and in the relationship between the business and the business family.
He has directed and collaborated in important business restructuring projects and advised on a multitude of corporate operations, some of great relevance. He has participated, especially in the worst moments of the real estate crisis, in complex debt financial restructuring procedures.
With regard to professional assistance to taxpayers in their relationship with the Public Administration, there are innumerable tax inspection, management and collection procedures that he has coordinated, which makes him a deep connoisseur of the casuistry that occurs in them. Likewise, he has directed a multitude of litigious procedures derived from tax regularizations, both in economic-administrative headquarters and in the contentious-administrative phase, mostly with satisfactory results. All this before any Administration, whether local, regional or state and in relation to a wide variety of taxes (VAT, Personal Income Tax, Corporation Tax, local taxes, special taxes...)
From 2007 to 2012, he collaborated in assisting a multitude of issues with international projection, specifically with Latin America. This allowed him to gain experience in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Uruguay or Peru, especially with regard to the presence of Spanish companies in their internationalization activity.
He has participated in various pro-bono initiatives, the most significant being his assistance to law students at the University of Oviedo in the "Clinica Jurídica" program.
Prior to joining Garrigues, he had a 6-month experience at the financial institution Bankinter as an assistant in the central administrative center for the Asturias area.
Academic background
Graduate in Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Oviedo. Study course from 1994 to 1998.
Teaching activity
He has given numerous seminars, conferences, round tables and talks on Accounting Law, tax issues, economic and business restructuring and other matters in different parts of Spain and Latin America.
Memberships
He is a member of the Illustrious College of Economists of Oviedo.

Publications
Throughout his professional career he has published many articles in the general and specialized press.
In 2009, Garrigues, together with the Asturian Business Federation, published the Acquisition Book of Spanish Nationality, adapted to the Historical Memory Law, of which Alfonso was co-author.
