Álvaro Blanco is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Law Department of Garrigues in the Madrid office, where he has been working in the Data Economy, Privacy and Cybersecurity practice since 2016. He has extensive experience in Telecommunications Law, Audiovisual Law, Technology, Data Protection and Cybersecurity with a national and international focus.
In his experience, he has accumulated a deep knowledge of the different technology applied to various sectors, with a vision from different areas of the law (procedural, administrative, commercial). He has advised clients from various sectors on data protection matters, including carrying out implementation projects and audits and advising in sanctioning procedures. He has extensive experience in managing security incidents and data breaches from a legal point of view, in which he has advised many national and multinational companies and has extensive experience in audiovisual and telecommunications regulation.
He holds a bilingual degree in Law and Economics from the University of Navarra and a Master's degree in Telecommunications, Audiovisual and Data Protection from the Carlos III University.
Experience
Álvaro joined the Corporate Law Department in September 2016.
He has extensive experience in providing legal advice to various entities, both private and public, in the information technologies, media, telecom, transport and retail sectors, on a wide range of matters related to privacy, IT and media law, including personal data protection, internet law and e-commerce, negotiation of commercial contracts, licensing of rights, management and notification of security breaches, risk and compliance, and software development and licensing, among others.
In addition, throughout his professional experience, he has carried out recurring couselling tasks and legal audits in the field of personal data protection, as well as implementation and adaptation projects to the applicable data protection and IT regulations. He has also handled and managed numerous sanctioning proceedings before the Spanish Data Protection Agency and the Spanish Courts.
He is fluent in Spanish and English.
