Ana Carrete is a senior associate in Garrigues’ Tax Department, having joined the firm in 2005. She has extensive experience in advising insurance companies and multinationals on matters relating to business taxation, tax groups, restructuring transactions, tax inspections and audits. She has experience in personal and wealth tax matters, having advised both sports entities and entertainers and sportspersons.
As an expert in providing advice to foundations, associations and the third sector in general, she is a member of the firm’s pro bono matters management team.
She also forms part of the team that analyzes, monitors and prepares the firm’s tax bulletins and newsletters.
She holds a Degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Recognized by Best Lawyer in the Tax Law area in 2023.
Experience
Ana Carrete joined the firm in 2005 and is a senior associate in the tax practice area at the Madrid office.
She advises multinational and domestic groups on a wide range of tax matters. Among other practice areas, she has extensive experience in the following:
- The provision of advice to multinationals, companies and business groups from all sectors (particularly, the insurance, industrial, and service sectors) on restructuring processes, and ad hoc and ongoing advice on corporate income tax matters for groups taxed under the consolidated tax regime.
- Advice on tax audits and inspections.
- The provision of advice on international tax issues to corporate groups with a presence abroad, in relation to their tax affairs both in Spain and abroad.
- The provision of tax advice on the reorganization of family groups and, generally, to family businesses and high-net-worth individuals (personal income tax, wealth tax and inheritance and gift tax).
- Tax advice to entertainers, sportspeople, and sports and entertainment companies, and organizers of major sporting and cultural events. She is a member of the Garrigues Sports & Entertainment tax team.
- The provision of advice to foundations and associations and other nonprofit entities, with direct involvement in a large number of the firm’s pro bono projects. She is a member of the firm’s pro bono matters management team, coordinating the acceptance and assignment of projects to provide professional services, meeting the firm’s standards, to the nonprofit entities that request such services.
She regularly collaborates with various master's degree programs relating to Sports Taxation.
She forms part of the team that analyzes, monitors and prepares the firm’s tax bulletins and newsletters.

Teaching activity
Ana collaborates with Centro de Estudios Garrigues in the Master’s in Taxation, where she lectures on the taxation of entertainers and sportspersons.
