Carlos López Mariano is the Garrigues partner in charge of Andalucía and the Canary Islands.
He joined the Corporate/Commercial Law Department in 1994, and made partner in 2005. He specializes in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and other business restructuring transactions. He has participated in numerous corporate transactions and currently acts as board secretary and legal adviser to a number of companies.
Carlos holds a Degree in Law, Economics and Business Studies from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE-E3), and an Associate’s Degree in Senior Management from Instituto Internacional San Telmo.
He regularly collaborates with Universidad Loyola (Seville), Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville) and Centro de Estudios Cajasol.
Member of the Madrid and Seville Bar Associations.
Experience
He joined the Madrid office of Arthur Andersen, Asesores Legales y Tributarios in October 1994. He later moved to the Seville office in 1997, where he has spent his entire professional career, apart from a brief period (1998-2002) spent as Head of Legal and General Secretary of Supercable Andalucía, the Andalusian cable telecommunications operator. He was made a Garrigues partner in September 2005.
He specializes in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and other business restructuring transactions. He has participated in numerous corporate transactions and currently acts as board secretary to a number of companies, both private entities and companies listed on BME-Growth.
Carlos has acquired diverse expertise in commercial contracts. He has participated in major deals and has extensive experience in the different types of mergers and acquisitions, as well as in the restructuring of corporate groups and family businesses. He has been involved in negotiation processes for domestic and international joint ventures, consortiums and other forms of association, as well as processes for access by several Andalusian companies to BME-Growth.
He provides corporate law advice on the main M&A and restructuring deals in his geographical area of practice and also advises private equity firms. Carlos has also participated in numerous financing transactions in different industrial sectors, particularly the mining, agribusiness and ports sectors.

Carlos participates in several pro bono projects, and is the secretary of the Seville Food Bank Foundation.
