Fernando Tejedor Jorge is a Counsel and is in charge of Garrigues’ administrative law practice area in the Canary Islands; he joined the firm in June 2020.
Fernando specializes in judicial review proceedings and providing advice on public procurement matters in his capacity as a government lawyer.
Experience
Government lawyer on leave of absence with over 16 years’ experience as government legal counsel in the Canary Islands, where he has pursued his administrative career, providing advice and representing and defending in court, public bodies such as the Las Palmas Port Authority and other entities in the central government public sector.
He has provided numerous professional advisory services including in connection with public procurement, port law, subsidies, penalties, tax, etc.
Fernando has over 19 years’ experience in the judicial review jurisdiction handling highly complex lawsuits and preparing reports on all types of administrative matters, most notably the following:
- Lawsuits in connection with port law, representing the Las Palmas Port Authority.
- Lawsuits in connection with public domain coastal land, representing the Canary Islands Coastal Authority.
- Reports on public procurement and the property of the public authorities.
- Lawsuits in connection with penalties: tax law, safety of citizens, labor law, port law.
- Lawsuits in connection with public subsidies and aid, maritime navigation, personnel at the service of the public authorities, etc...
He is also a regular speaker at seminars and conferences.
He is a member of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Bar Association.
Academic background
- Degree in Law, Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (1993).
- Government lawyer (September 2004 – May 2020).
- Lecturer in administrative penalty proceedings at Escuela de Prácticas Jurídicas for ten years.
- Associate professor in private international law at ULPGC between 2018 and 2020.
