Guillermo Gómez is a principal associate in the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate practice, focused on cross-border acquisitions, representing strategic investors and private equity funds in acquisitions of assets in Colombia, and advising local and international clients in corporate and contractual law. He has extensive experience in and knowledge of the regulations governing payment systems and their operation in Colombia and provides permanent advice to financial institutions and fintech companies in these matters.
He is an attorney from the Universidad de los Andes, with post-graduate studies in international business law and a Master's Degree in Private Law from the same university.
Experience
During his more than 10 years of experience, Guillermo has participated in several mergers and acquisitions transactions representing strategic investors and private equity funds in acquisitions of assets in Colombia, as well as companies selling entities and assets, from different industries, such as public utilities (energy and water), financial services, fintech and payments, technological and agri-food industry.
He also provides permanent corporate and contractual law advice to national and international clients. He has relevant experience in representing clients in capital market transactions (debt issuance) and cross-border loans and has extensive experience in and knowledge of the regulations governing payment systems and their operation in Colombia, providing permanent advice to financial institutions and fintech companies in these matters.
Before joining Garrigues, he worked in Colombia at a firm recognized in the area of financial/regulatory and corporate law.
He is fluent in Spanish and English.
