Experience
Hugo Forno Flórez is partner in the Litigation and Arbitration practice at the Lima office.
He has 33 years’ experience in the legal profession, specializing in the areas of civil property law, contracts, arbitration, rights in rem and hydrocarbons. He has broad experience in arbitration proceedings, having acted as arbitrator, attorney and an expert in Peruvian law.
He has served as General Secretary of the Managing Board of the Lima Bar Association.
He has been a member of the Board of Arbitration of the International Arbitration Center of the American Chamber of Commerce in Peru (AMCHAM). He is an arbitrator at the National and International Arbitration Center of the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce in Peru and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
He has served as executive secretary and secretary general of the National Foreign Investment and Technologies Commission (CONITE). He was an adviser to the Committee for the reform of the 1984 Civil Code and has been a member of the Consumer Protection Commission of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI, 1992-1994). Director of state-owned company Electroperú S.A. (one of the companies making up the National Fund for Financing State Business Activities, FONAFE, 2001-2006). He has also acted as an expert adviser (Amicus Curiae) to the Supreme Court of Peru.
He lectures on Contractual Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and at Universidad del Pacífico, and also previously at Universidad de Lima. He has lectured on Applied Civil Law at Universidad del Pacífico.
Hugo is a member of the Lima Bar Association.
