Jaime Bragado is a partner in Garrigues' Corporate Department, where he focuses on mergers and acquisitions, banking law, venture capital, corporate matters and capital markets. He has worked on a wide range of transactions, including domestic and cross-border acquisitions, private equity transactions, international domestic restructurings, bank acquisitions and reorganisations and issuances of corporate debt instruments. He also leads the Garrigues’ group specializing in foreign direct investment control (FDI) aspects, bringing together the Firm's most relevant criteria and practices in this area.
Experience
Jaime Bragado joined Garrigues in 1999 and has been a partner since 2011.
He specialises in corporate, commercial and financial law. He advises financial institutions, private equity firms, industrial groups and issuers of debt traded on listed markets. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions, banking law, advising private equity firms and debt issuers.
Several financial groups have sought his services in the past for their reorganisation and equity strengthening following the restructuring of the Spanish financial sector and Brexit.
He has worked on a recurring basis with the major multinational groups present in Spain included in the Fortune 500 and FT 500 lists. He is an expert in restructuring operations and international mergers and acquisitions with a regulatory and banking component. He also has extensive experience in international bond issues by Spanish and foreign issuers, advising both issuers and arrangers and underwriters of bond issues. Recently, since the entry into force in 2020 of the new foreign direct investment control (FDI) regime, he has been leading the group specialising in foreign investment control (FDI) aspects at Garrigues, bringing together the Firm's most relevant criteria and practices in this area.
Jaime Bragado is a member of Garrigues' multidisciplinary "Private Equity" and "Banks and Savings Banks" groups, and has participated in numerous seminars and sectoral analyses for companies operating in these sectors.
Designated as one of the best lawyers in Spain in the areas of Commercial Law, Banking Law and Mergers and Acquisitions for several consecutive years by the publication Best Lawyers.
He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association.

Degree in Law, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE, E-1).
Teaching activity
Since 2017, he has been teaching the Distribution Contracts module in ICADE’s Master in Business Law. In addition, since 2019 he has been teaching in the ICADE E-3 Analytics degree the monographic course on "National Aspects of Cybersecurity Law".
In the past, he has also taught: (i) the subject "International Contracts" in the Master in Business Law at ISDE, specifically in the academic years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 and (ii) the subject "D&O Regulations in the EU" in the Master in International Law at ICADE taught jointly with Fordham University.
