He has extensive experience in international trade and customs matters, ranging from strategic planning to litigation involving both Mexican matters as well as international proceedings in connection with free trade agreements and tax issues arising from these cases.
He also has a wealth of experience advising clients on their operations in connection with highly regulated products and services, whether regulated by the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Agriculture, Farming, Rural Development, Food and Fishing or other similar authorities, as regards their import, manufacturing, storage, marketing, transport processes, etc.

José Alberto Campos is a partner in the Tax practice.
He has advised clients on foreign trade transactions in connection with import and export duties, export development programs such as IMMEX, PROSEC, Rule 8, etc., customs and non-customs requirements applicable to the import of all types of goods and equipment, and international trade aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and all types of corporate restructurings.
He has also represented Mexican and foreign clients in administrative proceedings and customs and international trade litigation, as well as in negotiations with government authorities and in verification processes related to customs and foreign trade and also in both preventive and corrective audits.
He is skilled in life sciences law, dealing with matters ranging from strategic planning to litigation involving both matters relating purely to Mexico as well as international proceedings in connection with diverse international treaties and the application of sanctions.
He has advised clients on transactions that are highly regulated by the Mexican health and agricultural authorities both in connection with the strategic planning of their operations in Mexico, and the obtainment of licenses, authorizations and permits of all types, as well as planning in mergers, acquisitions and spin-offs of entities that pursue highly regulated activities or that provide health-related services.
He has also advised companies involved in the advertising of regulated products, both in the planning and preparation of marking and labeling requirements and planning of promotional materials, and also in disputes before authorities such as COFEPRIS, SENASICA, PROFECO and the like.
He has also advised several pharmaceutical and medical devices companies in relation to compliance with the applicable regulations in their promotional campaigns and in their dealings with doctors and other health professionals in connection with promotional activities and the presentation of goods and services.
He has also advised several companies on product recalls and marketing suspensions or withdrawal of products from the market, whether ordered by the authorities or as a result of the company’s internal procedures aimed at maintaining optimum quality control in their products and services.
He has represented Mexican and foreign clients in administrative proceedings and lawsuits arising from import, storage, marketing, advertising and other activities related to regulated products, as well as in the monitoring of verification processes related to the obligations applicable to such products and activities and in internal audits by companies to avoid potential contingencies in their operations in Mexico.
