Luis Ortiz Blanco was a partner and is currently of counsel in the EU and Competition Law department at Garrigues, a firm where he has developed his professional career after working for ten years (1987-1996) as a civil servant in the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission, in Brussels.
Luis is specialized in European Union and competition law, and in particular in advising and representing clients in administrative and judicial proceedings before Spanish and European authorities and courts (European Commission, National Competition Commission, Commercial Courts, National Court, Supreme Court and Court of Justice of the European Union). He is the reference lawyer for a good number of multinational and Spanish companies in the field of European and Spanish competition law, and regularly intervenes in many of the most important procedures at a European level.
Luis' practice covers matters related to cartels, cooperation agreements between competing companies, distribution or agency agreements, abuse of a dominant position, merger control, state aid, free movement of goods and trade defense procedures.
