Manuel Cortizo is a partner in the Garrigues Commercial Law Department, where he practices his professional activity as an expert commercial lawyer in the areas of commercial contracting and corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, technology & outsourcing, and personal data protection. Participation in processes to negotiate and formalize industrial agreements (supply, purchase, maintenance, user licenses), commercial agreements (distribution, agency) and contracts for works and services, particularly in the following areas:
- telecommunications and new technologies
- sports concessions
- renewable energy
- mining
- family businesses
- distribution and the textile industry.
Currently board secretary and legal adviser to several Spanish companies, providing the full range of legal services associated with general corporate operations (delegation of powers, execution of powers of attorney, bylaw amendments, capital increases and reductions, etc.).
As a member of the Family Business industry, he advises multiple family businesses and important Family Offices nationwide, among other issues, in the design and implementation of the principles of good corporate governance (Bylaws, Regulations of the Board, Council and Commissions, Ethics and Conduct Codes, Complaint Channels) and corporate liability in the field of unlisted companies, as well as in the implementation and monitoring of compliance and regulatory compliance policies
As part of the Firm’s new technologies practice area, has adapted large companies and business entities in Galicia to the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Organic Law. His experience extends to more complex data protection projects, such as the preparation of the “White Paper on Auxiliary Industries” for the main shipyards in Vigo and is a litigation expert in this field.

Past and present speaker and lecturer at different training centers (APD, Escuela de Negocios Caixanova, ITE Caixa Galicia, IFFE-Instituto de Formación Financiera y Empresarial) and has spoken at numerous specialized courses and conferences organized by various business associations and institutions.
