Maria Paz is a senior associate at Garrigues´ Corporate Department, based in our Lima, Peru office.
She specializes in finance transactions (corporate finance, acquisition financing, project finance, etc.), capital markets regulation and transactions (both domestic and cross-border), financial regulation and corporate law.
She is a summa cum laude graduate from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and holds an LLM degree from Harvard University.
She is a native Spanish speaker, is fluent in English and German.
Experience
She has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating, and advising local and international financial entities, investors and issuers of securities in financing operations, as well as in credit facilities, acquisition finance, project finance, real estate projects, and mergers and acquisitions; local and international. Likewise, she regularly assists capital market participants, local and foreign institutional investors, banking and financial companies, and new participants in the Peruvian market, in regulatory matters regarding capital markets, banking, finance, e-commerce, digital platforms, among others, and companies in the fintech sector.
She was a Visiting Attorney at A&O Shearman (New York) (2023-2024).

- Master of laws (LLM) from Harvard University (2023).
- Degree in law (Summa Cum Laude) from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (2018) (first in class).
Teaching activity
She has been a teaching assistant on Introduction to Legal Science courses and the Integration Seminar on Administrative Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
