
Oscar has 15 years’ professional experience in the areas of intellectual property and regulatory matters. He specializes in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector, including services related to the patenting of inventions, ranging from the patentability analysis, drafting and filing of applications and monitoring of applications during the substantive examination process, through to their grant. In the regulatory field, he advises on procedural formalities and provides consulting services in relation to products and services regulated by the Mexican health authority (COFEPRIS), managing manufacturing, marketing, distribution, import, export and advertising authorizations. His experience centers on the pharmaceutical sector, medical devices, foodstuffs, food supplements and health services.
Experience
Oscar Salinas is a senior associate in the IP practice. He has extensive experience in regulatory and administrative matters and has successfully managed key projects in several sectors, including fishing, medicinal products and food supplements. His most notable achievements include obtainment of authorization to export fishing products to countries in Central America and of decisions to extend and modify health registrations for medicinal products through administrative silence.
He has also led the defense in invalidity proceedings against administrative penalties and rejections of applications for registration of medicinal products. In the food supplements sector, he managed the regularization of products to comply with applicable health legislation in Mexico. Oscar’s solid experience in regulatory matters and his ability to ensure compliance with legislation make him an expert in the field.
He is fluent in English and Spanish.
