Luis Felipe Merino is the partner in charge of the office of Garrigues in Santiago, Chile.
He specialises in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions, advising on local and cross-border transactions in all types of industries, with a particular focus on transactions involving companies in the energy and gas market. He also has extensive experience advising energy companies on the development of generation projects, both from conventional and renewable energy sources.
He holds a degree in Law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and an LL.M. (Masters of Laws) from Duke University School of Law. He obtained his law degree in 1994.

Experience
Luis Felipe has extensive experience in corporate matters and M&A transactions with a special focus on transactions of companies in the energy and gas market, but also in transactions of companies from other sectors such as the pors, hotels, retail companies, agribusiness, health-care companies, among others. He also provides recurring advice to Chilean and foreign investment funds in private equity operations, both in competitive processes and in direct negotiations. He also has extensive experience leading and coordinating teams in transactions involving multiple jurisdictions and requiring specialists from different countries and areas of law. He also advises clients on shareholder agreements and corporate disputes.
He was a partner at Avendaño Merino Abogados from its foundation in 2003 until the integration of the firm into Garrigues in 2016. He previously worked as a foreign associate at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in Washington D.C., in 1998 and 1999.
Luis Felipe is a member of the Chilean Bar Association.
