The US-Canadian Desk is made up of lawyers from different offices and practice areas, with extensive experience in international transactions with the US and Canada and in-depth knowledge of the North American legal systems and markets. It is currently co-headed by Carla Frangoni (partner in charge of the New York office), Javier Marzo (Madrid partner specializing in Corporate and M&A) and Ferrán Escayola (Barcelona partner specializing in Corporate and M&A).
The main function of the US-Canadian Desk, together with the New York office, is to harness our extensive knowledge of the legal industry in North America and Garrigues’ excellent working relationships with a large number of US and Canadian firms with whom we work on a regular basis.
The US-Canadian Desk provides support to Garrigues clients and professionals seeking expert advice in light of the practice area or geographical location of the matter. Additionally, as part of the firm’s International Training Program, it helps arrange secondments and internships for Garrigues associates at leading firms in both countries and supports training programs (LL.M.) at prestigious universities.
The heads of the US-Canadian Desk maintain ties with AmCham Spain -of which Garrigues is a member- and the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce, as well as with the US and Canadian Embassies and Trade Offices in Spain. They also participate in conferences, talks and events in which their comparative knowledge of the different legal systems and expertise in reciprocal investments are placed at the service of clients and targets.
