Institutional News

SIAC signs MoUs with Japanese Arbitration Associations

The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) announced that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) respectively with the Japan Association of Arbitrators (JAA) and the Japan International Dispute Resolution Center (JIDRC) to promote international arbitration as a preferred method of dispute resolution for resolving international disputes.

Recent speaking engagements

  • Partners, Francisco Serrano (Madrid) and Joe Tirado (London) were members of faculty teaching on the international arbitration and ADR components on the LLM in International Transcations course held at the Centro de Estudios Garrigues in Madrid from 21 May - 5 June 2019. The LLM programme is a collaboration between Garrigues, Centro de Estudios Garrigues, Universidad de Nebrija and Fordham University The LL.M. in International Transactions provides experienced lawyers with global, multidisciplinary training and knowledge of the Common Law system and in different business law disciplines.   • Partner, Joe Tirado (London) spoke on the The Prague Rules at the Dublin International Dispute Resolution Fourum (an invitation only event) in Dublin on 14 June 2019.
  • Partner, Pedro Tent (Valencia) spoke on Technology assisting arbitration efficiency at a CEA-40 event held at the XIII Meeting of the CEA-40 in Madrid on 16 June 2019.
  • Partner, Carlos de los Santos (Madrid) in his capacity as Vice-President of the Club Español de Arbitraje (CEA) presided over the annual CEA conference in Madrid from 16-18 June 2019. The main theme this year were the newly published revised and expanded CEA Code of Good Practices in International Arbitration (see feature article for more details). The successful event was the biggest ever with over 450 delegates in attendance with many coming from Latin America and other jurisdictions.
