
José has acquired significant experience in capital markets, bank finance and financial legislation over more than 18 years. His practice has focused on representing issuers and underwriters in relation to public and private offerings, including corporate bonds, equity and structured instruments. His experience in bank finance comprises representing Mexican and other financial institutions in finance structuring and restructuring processes for public and private companies in Mexico. In recent years, José has also provided legal advisory services to various companies in the fintech ecosystem.
Experience
José Berrueta is a partner in the Securities Markets and Banking and Finance practices. He has advised on a diverse range of complex and high-profile transactions on financial markets, acquisitions, debt issuances and financial restructuring processes. He has notably worked on projects for the establishment of debt programs and programs for the issuance of trust certificates (certificados bursátiles), as well as on public share offerings and notes issuances on domestic and international markets.
He has provided advisory services on syndicated financing and refinancing processes to various companies, as well as on financial restructuring processes and corporate acquisitions. His experience further includes the structuring of private investment funds and capital development trust certificates in the real estate and energy sectors, among others.
Among his other achievements he has worked on international note offering and sale transactions under U.S. Legislation, notably issuances for large financial groups. José has represented underwriters in public debt offerings and private debt issuances of financial institutions, and established himself as an expert in the structuring and performance of strategic transactions in Mexico and elsewhere.
José is fluent in English and Spanish.
