Sergio Quintana is a senior associate of the Labor and Employment Law Department of Garrigues and joined the firm in 2017. He specializes in the areas of labor law advice, collective bargaining, business restructuring, compensation systems and labor litigation. He provides legal advice to clients and represents them in dealings with the labor and social security inspection authorities, the labor authorities and the labor courts, as well as before arbitral tribunals, and conciliation and mediation services. He has a Degree in Law from Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a Master’s Degree in Labor Law Practice from Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
Experience
Over his professional career, Sergio has participated in a range of engagements, including:
- Provision of comprehensive labor and social security advice to companies and executives.
- Attendance at mediation and conciliation hearings and arbitration proceedings before bodies of all kinds (CMAC, SEMAC, SERCLA, Canary Islands Labor Tribunal, among others).
- Preparation and handling of labor-related court proceedings in the labor and judicial review jurisdictions.
- Advice on procedures before the labor and social security inspection authorities.
- Due diligence reviews.
- Workforce restructuring processes (material modifications to working conditions, collective layoffs, temporary layoffs, etc.).
- Negotiation of collective labor agreements.
- Design of compensation systems and variable remuneration plans.

- Degree in Law, Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
- Specialist Course in Labor Mediation, Fundación Universitaria de Las Palmas.

Sergio has taught classes on labor procedural practice at the University of Seville.
