Financial Times' highlights Garrigues as a leading law firm in the fight against climate change
The Financial Times and Statista Europe’s Climate Leaders 2023 ranking, lists the 500 European companies that have made the most progress in reducing their GHG emissions
For the third year in a row, Garrigues has been recognized for its fight against climate change and has consolidated its position as the top-ranked European law firm that has most reduced its emissions according to the Financial Times-Statista Europe’s Climate Leaders list. This classification highlights the EU and UK companies that have reduced their greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) the most over a five-year period. In this year’s edition, the ranking looks at the period between 2016 and 2021.
Garrigues has again appeared on the prestigious Financial Times list, heading the professional services firms that have reduced their emissions the most: it reduced its emissions intensity scope 1 and 2 by 38.1% (which relates emissions with net revenues) and its total reduction of core emissions by 89.2%. No other Spanish law firm appears in the classification.
Sustainability is one of Garrigues’ strategic pillars, and its environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitment guides its activity. The firm is committed to an environmentally responsible business model, to ensuring compliance with legislation, preventing or mitigating the impact of its business and to reducing its carbon footprint in order to achieve net zero emissions. Since 2004, the firm prepares an annual inventory of GHG emissions and has an eco-efficiency plan in place which it applies throughout the entire value chain.
