Oscar Ferrari leads the tax practice at the Santiago de Chile office.
He mainly focusses on providing tax advice to a range of Chilean and foreign clients on the development of their businesses and on corporate and asset restructuring processes, mergers, acquisitions, project finance and tax litigation. He also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate law and foreign investment.
He has been an associate professor at the School of Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile since 2003, teaching classes in Tax Law I and Tax Law II.
Oscar has been ranked by various legal directories (Chambers and Partners, Best Lawyers, Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal) as one of the leading tax lawyers in Chile.
Oscar Ferrari is a member of the Chilean Bar Association and belongs to the association’s Tax Committee. He is also the President of the Legal and Regulatory Committee of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Chile (CAMACOES) and a member and former director of the Chilean Branch of the International Fiscal Association (IFA).

He mainly focusses on providing tax advice to a range of Chilean and foreign clients on the development of their businesses or projects in Chile and abroad, and on corporate and asset restructuring processes, mergers, acquisitions, project finance and tax litigation, in both the administrative (before the Chilean Internal Revenue Service) and judicial (before the Tax and Customs Courts, Appeal Courts and Supreme Court) jurisdictions. He also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate law and foreign investment.
Before joining Garrigues as a partner, Oscar Ferrari was a partner at Avendaño Merino Abogados (2011-2015) and Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos & Cia. Ltda. (2005-2010), and worked as a foreign associate at the New York office of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, from 1e of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, from 1997 to 1998.

Licenciado en Ciencias Jurídicas y Sociales de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1992); Master of Laws (LLM) in Commercial and Corporate Law, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London (1996); y Magíster en Dirección y Gestión Tributaria, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (2002).
Teaching activity
He has been an associate professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile since 2003, teaching classes in Tax Law I (Tax Code and VAT) and Tax Law II (Income Tax).
