Regime of a balanced representation of women and men in the management and supervisory bodies of the public sector entities and listed companies
Yesterday was published the Law no. 62/2017, of 1st August, which approves and established the regime of a balanced representation of women and men in the management and supervisory bodies of the public sector entities and listed companies, which enters into force on 2nd August 2017. Under the terms of the present law, and concerning the public sector entities, the proportion of persons of each sex assigned to each management and supervisory body of each company shall not be less than 33.3%, as of January 1, 2018. In relation to the listed companies, the proportion of persons of each sex assigned to each management and supervisory body of each company shall not be less than 20% from the first elective general assembly after 1st January 2018 and to 33.3% from the first elective general assembly after 1st January 2020, according to articles 4 and 5, respectively. The legal document also foresees that the public sector entities and listed companies shall annually elaborate equality plans in order to achieve an effective equal treatment and equal opportunities for women and men by promoting the elimination of gender-based discrimination and promoting the conciliation between personal, family and professional life, which shall be published in the respective Internet website.
